Ira Jean Gregory

Ira Jean Gregory, 80, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 14, 2023, in Chesapeake, VA., born, March 31, 1942 to the late Vernell Jones. Jean was a graduate of Crestwood High School in Chesapeake, VA. She was united in marriage to the late James "Billy" Gregory Jr. on July 17, 1959.

Jean is predeceased by her husband and daughter, Cindee Gregory Bracey in 2014. She was a faithful member of Lee's Chapel AME located on Bells Mill Road in the city of Chesapeake, VA. Jean served on the Board of Trustees and as an Usher for many years. She also worked alongside her husband as his accountant for Hilo Fuel Services. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter; Shelia Hairston (Michael); four grandchildren, Tiffany Hairston, Michael Hairston, Autumn Bracey and Summer Bracey; one great grandchild, Natalie Hairston; one brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of long-time friends. The family will receive friends and loved ones from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Metropolitan Funeral Service located at 5605 Portsmouth Blvd, Portsmouth, VA, 23701. The funeral will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Lee's Chapel AME Church located at 1036 Bells Mill Road, Chesapeake, VA.
