Ira White Obituary
Panama City - Ira James White, Sr., 81, of Panama City, FL passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020. He was born in Point Washington, FL on October 23, 1939 to the late Ottway, Sr. and Minnie White. Ira attended Bay High School where he ran track. Later, he traveled the world while serving in the Merchant Marines. He enjoyed working out, was always on the go, and enjoyed going out to eat. Ira loved working on cars. Even after he lost his sight, he was still a very proficient mechanic. He was also the first person in Panama City to receive a Seeing Eye dog back in the 80's.
Ira was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Diana; his parents; and 1 brother, Ottway White, Jr.
He is survived by his children, Ira White, Jr. (Michelle), Anna White, Christie Joyner (Johnny), and Stacie Gallina (RJ); grandchildren, Trevor White, Ashley Batson, Kal-el Goodwin, Zoe Rickenbach, Juliana Gallina, William, Timothy, Jonathan, and Zachary Hunter, and Katherine and Alexander White; 1 great-grandchild, Edward Rickenbach; and 1 sister, Betty Barton (Buddy) of Summerville, NC.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Millville Cemetery with Rev. Virgil Tillman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.
