Nicholas, Wesley "Nick" A native of Port Allen, he died on Monday, July 25, 2005, at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 89 and a retired stock clerk and supervisor with United Service. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and a World War II veteran. Visiting at Second Baptist Church, 914 N. Acadian Thruway W., on Monday, August 1, from 8:30 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Leo Cyrus. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude "Trudy" Nicholas; stepson, Christopher Knighten and companion, Troylynn Harris; stepdaughter, Veronica "Bubbles" Tubbs and husband John Tubbs; brother, George Collins; grandchildren, Kevin Tubbs, Keosha Tubbs and Kanika Tubbs Brown and husband Gregory Brown; sister-in-law, Martha Trueblood Coates; a niece, several nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Nathaniel and Isabel Nicholas; brother, Nathaniel Nicholas Jr.; sister, Mazarine Collins; first wife, Elnora T. Nicholas; stepson, Kenneth Knighten; and grandson, Kendrick "Rick" Tubbs. Bunkie Mortuary Inc., Bunkie, is in charge of arrangements.
