Surrounded by her loving family, it is with extreme sadness that the family announce the passing of Irene A. Gault. Loving daughter of the late Frank and Veronica Skarbek. Loving wife of over 55 years to the late Gerald (2013). Cherished mother to Glenn and wife Susan, Karen, Randy, Krista and husband Carey. Loved Grandma to Kayla, Kelsey and Mitchell. Special "grandma and pet sitter" to Jackson, Gracie, George and Henry. Dear sister of Ed Skarbek, the late Stan and Ted Skarbek, and sister–in-law Stella Skarbek. Aunt Irene to Ted, Susan, Tom and the late Carol and their families. As owner and operator of the Fireside Inn Restaurant and Banquet Center for over 30 years, mom was known for her famous cabbage rolls, pierogies and fried chicken. She served many thousand customers in Windsor-Essex and had countless stories to tell. Her most precious moments were working every day beside her family which she cherished most of all. She was an amazing basketball player, excellent cook, loved watching sports with dad, playing euchre and cribbage till late in the night, planting beautiful flowers and reading magazines. I just went by to clear the snow from her sidewalk. And the neighbor told me she had passed.. I was heartbroken. I was in Portugal for 5 weeks .. I had no idea. I stopped by many times and knocked on the door with Charlie (my dog). No answer. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the family. I worked for her and learned a great deal.
