Obituary

Irene D. Hobbs, 90, Gilby, North Dakota, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 in the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Larimore, North Dakota. Irene Dorothy Baumann was born to George and (Rhoda) Elliott Baumann on November 17, 1915 at Bagley, Minnesota. She lived in Bagley until age 8 when she moved to Gilby, North Dakota to live with her aunt and uncle, Thomas and Gladys Elliott. She was raised in Gilby and is a graduate of Gilby High School. She married Herval Hobbs on April 2, 1938 at Barton, North Dakota. They resided in the Gilby area after their marriage. Mr. Hobbs died in 1981. Irene was a member of the Gilby Presbyterian Church, where she was an Elder, a member of the Women's Association, and taught Sunday school for many years. She enjoyed quilting. Irene is survived by her children, J. Rodney (Kathrine) Hobbs, Port Orchard, Washington, Allen (Elaine) Hobbs, Grand Forks, Randy Hobbs, Phoenix, Arizona, Edith (Greg) Johnson , Gilby, North Dakota, Steve Hobbs, Gilby, North Dakota, and Bob (Holly) Hobbs, Gilby, North Dakota; 14 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 sisters, and her aunt and uncle, Thomas and Gladys Elliott. Services: Will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 9, 2006 at Gilby Presbyterian Church, Gilby, North Dakota. Visitation: Will be from 6 to 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. Prayer Service Sunday in Amundson Funeral Home, 2975 S. 42nd St., Grand Forks, and for the hour prior to the service in the church. Interment: Prairie Home Cemetery, Gilby, North Dakota. www.amundsonfuneralhome.com

To the entire Hobb's Family, I was saddened by the news of your mothers passing. I remember how everyone of you were so nice to me when I lived there and helped me when I needed it or when I was down & out. I hold a special place in my heart for you all and believe me when I say "That I think of you often.
