Irene was born on December 26, 1934 on the Standing Buffalo Dakota Nation and passed away peacefully with loving family by her side. She is predeceased by her husband James; son Douglas; parents Joseph Matthew and Rosalie Yuzicapi; grandparents Louie and Martha Tawiyaka; sister in infancy Rosalee; brothers George and Ernie Yuzicapi; sister Joan Turning Bear and numerous relatives. Irene is lovingly survived by her children and grandchildren, sister Vivian and brother Albert, relatives and friends in Canada and USA and extended families Frank Tacan (Deborah), Gary Holy Bull, Del and Dorothy Alexson, Roy and Carla Bison. A Wake will be held on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Standing Buffalo Gym with interment to follow Monday, June 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeview Cemetery, Fort Qu'Appelle, SK. Traditional Elder Mr. Frank Tacan officiating.

Ina, Kunsi, today it's been 1 year since Wakan Takan took your hand and said it is time for you to come home, as your job here on Mother Earth is done. Dear Jacques family:
I want to express my condolences at the passing of your mom. I regret I was unable to attend the funeral as I was on vacation when Mrs. Jacques passed and did not hear about it until July. During the many time I was in your home, your mom treated me so special and I grew to love her. Years ago when I saw her at the Regina Airport I got a chance to tell how much I loved her and how grateful I was toward her. I don't pretend to know how you all feel; I do know how it is to lose a mom. Take care.

Mom it broke my heart to sit by your side and see you take your last breath. The laughs we shared, the memories we made as Mother & Daughter. Know one will ever know what it meant to lose you.
