Born October 30, 1926, in
Shoemakersville, she was the daughter of the late DeCosta and Elizabeth (Rothermel) Shearer. Her husband of 62 years, Robert A. Kramer Sr., passed away on September 9, 2008.
Irene worked for many years as a sleeve setter. She worked for Fleetwood Shirt Company, Temple Sportswear and Lyons Knitwear, Temple. She also worked as a cook at the former Stagecoach Restaurant, Blandon. Irene was a long time member of Maidencreek Church, Blandon, where she was active with the prayer chain committee and the Joy Givers Sunday School class.
Irene was a charter member and the first president of the Blandon Lioness Club. She was active with the Blandon
Seniors serving as attendance secretary; the Fleetwood Center for Berks Encore where she played cards three times per week; and the Senior Bowling League at Hoffman Lanes. She attended Perry Township and Muhlenberg schools and loved reading, crocheting, cooking, bowling and playing cards.
Irene is survived by her two children, Mary L. (Kramer) Beard, wife of Terry L. Beard, Muhlenberg Twp.; and
Robert A. Kramer Jr., Blandon; her granddaughters,
Cynthia A. (Beard) Borelli, wife of Giuseppe Borelli, Spring Twp.; and Wendy L. Beard, wife of Duane M. Feeg, S.
Heidelberg Twp.; and her great-grandsons: Anthony,
Nicholas, Caleb, Logan and Haden. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy (Shearer) Wesner, wife of Charles Wesner, Hamburg; her brother, Daniel Shearer, husband of Joan (Kneller) Shearer, Flagstaff, Ariz.; and her two fur
babies, Tabby Lou and Cuddles Sue.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her brother, Frederick; her sisters: Mary, Ellen and
Emma; and by four siblings in infancy.
Funeral services for Irene will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Walbert Funeral Home & Cremation Services PC, 14390 Kutztown Rd., Fleetwood. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Twp. A viewing will be held Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
