Irene Lefler Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 5, 2017.
Arrangements under the direction of McEwen Mrs. Lefler, 91, passed away peacefully under hospice care on October 4, 2017. She was born on September 24, 1926 in Miami, FL to the late Oscar and Eunice Davis Elder.
Family was everything to her. She loved her grandchildren & great-grandchildren so much and deeply cherished every minute she spent with them. She was a gracious southern lady and led a long & engaging life throughout. She was such fun and always had a bright uplifting smile. She had a true heart for Jesus and worked every day to emulate Him and all of His ways. Mrs. Lefler journaled for many years our day-to-day lives and studied God's word every day. She was a constant inspiration to everyone in her life; strong in faith and grounded in the word and had such a generous, selfless approach to everything, a true "giver" with no expectations

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow Lefler of Albemarle; daughter Donna Burney of Concord and several brothers and sisters of Clarksburg, WV.

Mrs. Lefler is survived by her daughter Charlotte Wiriden of Charlotte, grandsons Chuck Wiriden (Sonia) of Waxhaw; Michael Burney (Kandy) of Kannapolis; granddaughter Emily Burney of Concord; son-in-law D.Glenn Burney of Concord; great-grandchildren Chase Wiriden of Waxhaw, Ashlyn Wiriden of Waxhaw and Jonathan Michael Burney of Concord; three brothers and one sister of Clarksburg, WV.

Let me say a very special thank you to everyone for your sweet, precious words and for sharing your many memories of Mom. She is going to be dearly missed. There is such comfort in knowing where she now is and with whom. Makes us all a little homesick, no doubt. Her light will shine in our hearts & minds every day. Blessings!

Charlotte, what fond memories I have of Irene: all during our high school years when she'd drive us to Garinger each day; she always dressed beautifully, had a lovely smile, a great sense of humor, and was always there to give us teenage girls some good life advice. I will treasure those times with you & Donna, and your mom forever. Irene the Bean. Much love to you and all Irene's family, Pam (Canipe) Austin

Charlotte and Family, You All are in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Your precious mother was so beautiful and elegant! She was always so sweet and welcoming to us when we were growing up. Irene was a lovely lady and Charlotte you are just like her! We will be with our loved ones again until then cherish those precious memories.
Love you,

Thank you Irene for the inspiration you gave me in life on a journey for the fight of my life after I fell ill with liver failure Stage 5. You are constantly praying for me coming to see me, and you don't know how much you will be missed truly proud that have had to met you and known you you were a sweet sweet lady now wearing wings of angels with our sweet Donna Beatty Burney and daddy all dancing with Jesus today how jealous am I? Rest in peace beautiful woman I'll see you real soon!

Aunt Irene's passing is truly sad to our family. She was special in our lives, always so loving, kind, and caring. She was very interested in how we were all doing in our daily walks of life. We loved her and will miss her so much. She and some of her family graced many of our family gatherings through the years, and we always looked forward to them being with us. I am glad I had the opportunity to spend time with her these last 10 years while we have lived in Charlotte. She was a very special person to Mother--they shared many old time memories from days gone by. Aunt Irene and I have had many long conversations, always enjoying each others company so much. She is now at peace, absent from the body, and present with the Lord. God Bless.
