Stephen A. Gasdik

Stephen A. Gasdik, 55, of the Austin Heights section of Old Forge, died Monday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained from an ATV accident. His loving wife is Karen Ozack Gasdik. Together the couple celebrated 21 years of marriage on Sept. 18, 2020.

Born in Roslyn, Pa., son of Joseph "Gus" and Barbara Dubernas Gasdik, of Old Forge, he was a 1983 graduate of Old Forge High School. Steve then attended Johnson Technical Institute in Scranton earning a degree in electronic and fluidity technology. He was employed at Cornell Cookson in Mountain Top for a period of nearly 30 years. An officer in the Valley ATV Club, Steve truly enjoyed the outdoors. He was a parishioner of Prince of Peace Parish, Old Forge, where he served as an usher at 8 a.m. Mass weekly. In the past he served as a choir member and altar server at the former St. Stanislaus Church, Old Forge.

Steve was a proud Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus who held membership in the Old Forge Council 5940 and Redemptoris Custos Fourth Degree Assembly 3755 of Pittston. His faith and devotion to Roman Catholicism was evident. Steve recently donated his trailer to the Old Forge Council. It will be used to house the processional platform of the Blessed Virgin Mary and is going to be dedicated this Sunday at Prince of Peace Parish by the Most Rev. Joseph Bambera, bishop of the Diocese of Scranton. Steve will be remembered throughout this ceremony for his dedication, unselfishness and Christian values. May his memory be a blessing.

Also surviving are his two children, Angela Gasdik and Jacob Gasdik, both at home; a sister, Monica Salerno, of Old Forge; aunts, Marjorie Hayden, Olympia, Wash.; Rose Mary Schleppy, of Scranton; and Catherine Thomas, of Philadelphia; a great aunt, Dorothy Palermo, of Old Forge; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from Ferri & Gillette Funeral Services LLC, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Mary's Church (Prince of Peace Parish), 123 W. Grace St., Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev. August A. Ricciardi, pastor. Private interment, St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Old Forge.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Steve's viewing on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. Please expect delays upon entering due to capacity limitations and express condolences in a timely manner.
