Irene SASAKI Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Jan. 3, 2015.
SASAKI, Irene Yoshiko
1923 – 2014
Our dear mother passed away peacefully on November 22, 2014 at Fleetwood Place in Surrey, BC where she had resided the past three years. She was predeceased by her husband Chiuzo George in 1962. Sadly, her son Roger passed away one week after her death. She is survived by her three loving daughters, Dianne (Harry), Janet (Terry), Lynn, daughter-in-law Sandi, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mom was an extremely hardworking, independent woman. After becoming a young widow, she worked hard for many years, providing for her family by doing farm and cannery work and then becoming a seamstress at Army & Navy Department Store. Throughout the years, many people benefitted from her special talent of designing and sewing clothes and costumes. The family would like to thank the staff at Fleetwood Place for their kindness and care for Mom. Special thanks to Peter Kok for all his support. A private Graveside Burial has taken place at Valley View Memorial Gardens. To sign the online book of condolences go to www.valleyviewsurrey.ca.

Dear Janet a long time friend.

We were so sorry to hear the most sad news you and your family have had to cope with in these last few months and sincerely hope that every day becomes a little easier for Roger's wife and family and all of your extended families. The loss of your sweet Mother is such an overwhelming
adjustment for you all and it is a huge void for everyone it simply is easier over time but it leaves us so so sad.I am so grateful to you for taking the time to take your Mom to visit mine at Care Life and am also glad that we had a little visit at your Mom's together after my Mom passed.
My Mother thought so highly of yours and always spoke kindly of her, weren't we lucky to have such lovely ladies to teach us how important friendship is and good for both of them to have lived the long (not always easy) lives and to have stayed in touch! I hope this small note of condolence let's you know we were again so sorry for both losses and hope to talk to you soon, pass our regards and condolences on to the rest of your families, love Gayle andJohn Smeltzer. 604 599-0188
