Mrs. Irene Lee Spann, of 1711 Bellivue Ave., Richmond and of the Bronx, N.Y., departed this life Friday, December 12, 2003 at the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Richmond and St. Lucie's Parrish, Bronx, N.Y. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the Business and Professional Women's Association. She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Raymond N. Lee of Connecticut; nephew, Dr. Frank Costello of Manhattan, N.Y.; two goddaughters, Attorney Pamela Boston of Richmond and Coralyn Pittman of Goldsboro, N.C.; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 5 p.m. Friday, December 19, 2003 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 909 Rennie Ave., Richmond with Father Fred Seusfhrent officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y. on Monday, December 22, 2003. A viewing will be held on Friday from 4 to 5 p.m. at the church. Remains rest Tucker's Funeral Home. Services under the direction of Tucker's Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg. A.A. Tucker, funeral director.

Ms. Spann was my Kindergarten teacher at C.S.50 public school, in the Bronx. She was a remarkable person and I was blessed to have her as my beginning educator. She left a positive mark on me that remains dear in my heart. Rest in heaven.
