IRENE STILLER
1914 - 2013
Irene Blanche Stiller entered into the presence of her Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the age of 98 years. Family members were at her bedside when she peacefully slipped into Eternity. She was born in Regina, SK on October 16, 1914 to Gordon and Eleanor (Austin) Parsons. As a child and young woman, Irene lived in various locations in Saskatchewan, Iowa, Ontario, England and Manitoba.
On November 23, 1938, she married A. Henning Stiller in Preeceville, SK. As a minister's wife, again, she moved to several towns/cities in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Her longest residency was in Edmonton - 33 years. In 2005, Irene moved to Saskatoon, to be closer to family, where she resided at Elim Lodge until November 2011. She then lived in facilities which were able to provide more care until the time of her passing.
Irene was most happy when she was surrounded by family. With heartfelt love, gratitude and fondness, she will be remembered by: son Donald (Margaret), Saskatoon, SK - Shauna and Michael Penner, Kevin; son Douglas (Beverley), Perth, ON - Scott and Ginny (Benjamin, Amy, Bethany), Ian and Cindy (Westan, Maeve), Shelley and Altin Hasho (Ilir); son Garth (Linda), Burnaby, BC - Sean, Nicky; son Paul (Carolle) Winnipeg, MB - Brett, Shane; daughter Janet (Greg) Rathjen, Bentley, AB - Joel and Cristina Rathjen (Sophia, Jude), Ryan. Irene's memory is cherished by her half-brother Robert (Norma) Parlee, Kelowna, BC and her grandson Craig (JoAnn) Marek, Kenora, ON - Brock, Dane, Callie. She is lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews in Ontario: David (Evelyn) Stiller; Calvin (Angie) Stiller; Brian (Lily) Stiller; Ruth Rogers; Joan (Dale) Patterson and their families.
Predeceasing Irene was her husband, Henning, in 1987, her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Mildred (2009) and Hilmer (1971) Stiller.
With her warm, outgoing personality, Irene was a vital part of her husband's ministry. Visitors and parishioners were welcome in her home. She will be remembered with gratitude and respect by many friends in the various places where she has lived.
Thank you to staff at Keedwell Assisted Living Centre and Sunnyside Adventist Care Centre for the considerate care you gave our mother. The kind, compassionate and respectful care given to mom by Dr. W. Hugh McKee is greatly appreciated.
A Scripture verse that is applicable to our mother's life is "Well done, good and faithful servant" Matthew 25:21.
There will be a viewing for the public on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 - 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK.
A Celebration of Irene's life will be on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at North Pointe Community Church, 14025 - 167 Avenue, Edmonton AB. Interment will take place beside her husband at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Edmonton.
