Irving Weinsoff Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 23, 2024.
Irving Weinsoff passed away on August 15, 2024, in Coral Springs, Florida, at the age of 90. Born in the Bronx, New York, Irving led a distinguished life marked by his dedication to family, his country, and his profession.

Irving served valiantly in the US Army during the Korean War, notably with the 182nd Airborne Rakkasans, a testament to his bravery and commitment to service. After his military service, he pursued his education at Brooklyn Law School, which paved the way for his successful career as an attorney, where he was respected for his sharp intellect and unwavering ethics.

Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Irving was a true family man. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Sylvia Weinsoff, and a loving father to his children, Lynn Silvern (Lloyd), Julie Gold (Sam), and Bruce Weinsoff (Karen). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Weinsoff. Irving believed strongly in the power of personal effort and integrity in crafting one's success, a philosophy he imparted to his family and peers.

Irving also had a passion for his military history, often reflecting on his time with the Rakkasans. His interests extended beyond his career and service; he was a cornerstone of his community and an inspiration to all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to organizations supporting Juvenile Diabetes, a cause important to Irving. His legacy will live on through his family, his service, and his contributions to justice and community welfare.

Today I learned of Irv´s passing. He was always a true Rakkasan He served in the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment in Korea. He was instrumental in founding the National Rakkasan Association. He was critical to the formation and growth of the Association. He was a leader and a friend. Rest in peace fellow Rakkasan until we form again. Let Valor Not Fail

Ranger Irv...you took this young Paratrooper under your wing in 1992
Me and my wife Debbie were treated as family by you and Mrs Sylvia, not to mention Howard Riggs and the rest of the Ranger Rakkassan Family. We attended every Rakkassan Reunion here in Jax and it was one of the Greatest Honors of my life being your friend. Some of our Fondest visits to Miami always culminated with a visit and many hours of talking at your house
You always spoke straight and true to me for 30 plus years and I will Truly miss your laughter and guidance. Thank you for Everything, Rangers Lead The Way and Airborne Brother
