To all Herb's family: He was my favorite older cousin, always kind and sweet to me. I am saddened to learn of his passing and the loss everyone must be feeling. Altho' I live in Massachusetts, it was always a treat to see him when I visited Chicago. He was so dynamic--I had no idea how accomplished he was! I was just a little child, Janie, when I spent time with him and Barbara. It was my privilege to have known him. Love to you all, Jane (Goldstein) Berlent.

Dr. Siegal treated Danny Paul at the MDA clinic at Weiss Memorial for over 25 years. We all loved him! He was such wonderful and thoughtful man. He was so kind to all the children at the clinic. He was an incredible help and comfort to us when Danny was being evaluted and treated. Dr. Siegal had a real gift. We will all miss him greatly. The world was a better place for having him.

Dr. Siegel (my Siegel bunny) will forever remain in my heart and memories. We shared a birthday and numerous laughs. His presence will surely be missed around Rush but the lessons he taught, knowledge he shared, and the countless stories he told will forever stay. I miss his larger than life presence but smile in knowing he no longer suffers.

I was Dr Siegel's typist/transcriptionist for 56 years. He was my hero - truly a Renaissance man. Though his handwriting was awful, he made beauty with his words. I will miss him. My condolences to the family of this wonderful man and to the others who loved him

Dear Barbara and family, we were saddened to hear from Alice Thanner of Dr. Siegel's death. His was a name, intellect and personality I heard about weekly from my father Kent from my early memories. He treated me several times over the decades and I always thought of him as a gifted, compassionate man who exemplified a learned person and humanitarian. Reading his obituary confirmed my thoughts. Thank you all for sharing him with us and the world he sought to help and make better. All of us are better for intersecting with his time on this earth.

On August 5, 1964, I entered Weiss Hospital's ER in extremely critical condition. By God's grace, Dr. Siegel was on call and for the next 8 hours he battled to keep me alive and save my mangled right leg. I was just 17 years old. That day he saved my life, and through many subsequent surgeries he repaired my leg.
I've had a wonderful, productive life and not a day goes by without a silent "thank you" to this skilled, compassionate doctor. Dr. Siegel will be in my prayers for the rest of my life.

On the afternoon of August 5, 1964, I was brought into the emergency room of Weiss hospital in extremely critical condition. By the grace of God Dr. Siegel was on call, and for the next eight hours he battled to keep me alive and save my mangled right leg. I was 17 years old at the time. Dr. Siegel saved my life that day and over the course of several more operations he saved my leg.
I cannot begin to know the number of lives Dr. Siegel has touched, I only know I have able to live a full and wonderful life because of his extraordinary skill and compassion.
Every day when I look at my leg I offer up a silent thank you to him.
Please know that Dr. Siegel will remain in my prayers for the rest of my life.
