Rest in Peace, Mrs. Carpio. You were a treasure to all who studied under you at Beaupre in the 1970s. Quiet, graceful, stern. Poetry recitations. Your hair. Good and lasting memories.

Mrs. Carpio was my fourth grade teacher in an experimental class combining 4th and 5th graders, during the 1970-71 school year at Beaupre Elementary (Aurora, IL). There were challenges in bringing the best possible educational and social outcome to this mismatched group of students, but Mrs. Carpio nurtured and guided us along that path, providing us with the most optimal experience. I've thought of her with great fondness, over the years, as I'm sure all of her students have. My heartfelt condolences to her family, and to everyone whom she positively impacted as a teacher, protector, and spiritual guide.

I had the privilege and honor of employing Isabel Carpio for a teaching position in District 131 when I was responsible for personnel. Isabel was one of the finest teachers we had in the district and her kindness and decency was reflected in everything that she did throughout her career. My sincere sympathy is extended to her entire family.
