Isabelle Helen Sarkinen, age 13, passed away on Dec. 6, 2012. She was born on June 15, 1999 in Vancouver, WA.
Isabelle is survived by her parents, Craig and Nina, with brother, Alexander Sarkinen; Grandparents, Darrel and Helen Sarkinen, Nils and Margaret Skulbru, all of Battle Ground, WA; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wed., Dec. 12 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 32320 NE Lewisville Highway, Battle Ground, WA. Viewings will be held on Tues., 6:30-8:30 p.m., and 12-1 p.m. before service Wed..

Isabelle, it´s been a very long time since I have seen your beautiful smile. I hope you are enjoying heaven. Life has been pretty crazy without you. I always imagined we´d grow up together and get to experience so much more than we did when we were kids. I miss you. And I think about you every day. I remember coming over every day after school and playing with littlest pet shops. You had so many. Your collection was something I always envied and you always let me play with whichever ones I admired that day. Your mom was always so sweet. I´m sure she still is. I remember her mash potatoes with peas and hot dogs. I loved it. I remember walking with you every day after school. We´d walk by the middle school and look at the tadpoles that were growing in the giant puddle that never seemed to dry, behind the school. It was almost like a pond. I remember the jokes we had together and the laughs we shared. I´ll cherish those moments forever. You are a beautiful soul that will never be forgotten. I´m writing this because I realized I never have. I think about you every day, but I rarely share it with anyone out of fear of breaking down. Well, today I did. You see, I have a really good friend. He´s really nice to me. I think you´d like him. I told him all about you and how I think about you when I´m in nature and around any kind of beauty or spirituality. I know The Lord has a home for you with him and for that I am thankful. I often wonder if your parents would remember me, because we were so young last time they had seen me. Your dad always reminded me of the actor Ed Norton haha. Your mom was always so beautiful to me too. I´m writing this because I think it´s time I spoke to you here as I haven´t before. And speaking of you to my friend really got me thinking. I´m going to come back to battle ground soon and visit you again. It´s been a while. But I know you probably miss me too. I love you Isabelle. You were the first best friend I ever had. There has never been anyone like you. I feel it is necessary to say, that a big part of me feels it´s right to experience life and do things you would have wanted to do. I can do them for you. I´ll take you with me. You´re always with me in a way. In my heart and in my thoughts. So that´s what I´ll do. I´ll do all the things you never got too. And you´ll be right there with me. I love you. You will never be forgotten.

May this innocent little girl be an angel in the sky watching over us. I never knew her but this tradgedy has made me remember how hard it was being a teenager and how it's still hard. You never know when someone's life will be taken so be careful what words you say to someone and what actions/motives you do or intend to do to someone. I met a Little girl after the service today,,she saw my sadness and gave me a little smile revealling several missing teeth,,,,It reminded me of the time Isabelle came over and showed me where a baby tooth had fell out,,,I assured her that a new tooth would come in and her smile would be as beautiful as ever,,,,she smiled so big and said,,,,I know,,,,,and then skipped off back to her house,,,,,that memory warms my heart,,,,even through my grief

I never had the privilege of meeting Isabelle, but from the comments on this board, it sounds like she was quite an angel.
There was a time when I overheard Craig talking about her at work, how she had been climbing a tree when had to run and catch her, saving her from a broken arm. I remember hoping that my own daughters would grow up to be as adventurous and daring one day.
Craig, as a father myself, I can't begin to understand how you must feel right now. I am so sorry. My heart goes out to you, your wife, Alexander, and the rest of the people here who were blessed enough to share in the joys that she brought to your world.
