Isaiah Andrews

Isaiah Andrews, third longest serving, wrongfully imprisoned person in the history of the United States, died peacefully as a free man on Sunday, April 10, 2022. He was 83 years old. He spent the last two years of his life free from prison, building a community of friends and supporters. Isaiah was wrongfully convicted for the murder of his wife, Regina, in 1975. He never wavered in his commitment to his wife and his own innocence. In 2019, the Ohio Innocence Project discovered that the Cleveland Police hid evidence of his innocence and secured a new trial. In October 2021. A jury decidedly found him not guilty, and just one month ago, he was officially declared a wrongfully imprisoned person. Isaiah never had a chance to live a full life as a free man as he deserved, but his legacy lives on. He is a beacon of hope for other wrongfully imprisoned people still fighting for their freedom. He will be deeply missed. Services for Isaiah will be held on Wednesday, April 13 from 12-1 at the CVIC Chagrin Valley Islamic Center at 6909 Liberty Road, Solon.
