ISAMU "LUCKY" UEHARA
October 07, 1926 - February 08, 2009
Isamu "Lucky" Uehara was born to Kamado and UtoUehara on Oct. 07, 1926 in Hilo, Hawaii.
In 1951, Lucky married Gladys T. Nakahodo. They had four children; Russell, Sharon, Val, and Dwayne. For 45 years, Lucky was the owner and chef of New Liberty Grill, a restaurant in "old downtown" Honolulu. Here he lived out his passion while cooking and serving his customers. Mom worked alongside dad after the kids got older. They both retired in 1991 to travel and spend more time with the grandchildren.
Lucky was 82 when he went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, February 08, 2009. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Gladys. He is also survived by his sons Russell (Carolyn), Dwayne (Jodi), and daughters Sharon (Don) Yorimoto and Val (Col. Clarence KK) Chinn. He has 13 grandchildren. They are Nicole, Christopher, Summer, and Laurie Uehara, Michele and Jennifer Uehara, Jason and Jessie Kaneshiro, Reese, Tami, and Gavin Yorimoto, and Ashley and Jared Chinn, He is also survived by sisters Leatrice S. Kam of Honolulu and Susan H. Uehara of California.
The family of the late Isamu "Lucky" Uehara thanks you for your heartfelt prayers and kind expressions of sympathy during this time. We are comforted by the knowledge that we will see him again in Heaven. May the Lord bless you and give you peace as He has blessed us with your love.
