RIDGEWAY, VA — Iva Wood Harris, 80, of 146 Shamrock Drive, Ridgeway, VA died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville/Henry County.
She was born on April 6, 1930 in Meadows of Dan, VA to the late Wade H. Wood and Lillie Hylton Wood.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. "Lindy" Harris.
Mrs. Harris was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ridgeway, VA and retired after working for E. I. DuPont 28 years as a type 29 operator.
Surviving are her daughters, Sandra Harris Brewer and husband, Larry W. Brewer of Mayodan, NC and Deborah Harris Meadows of Danville, VA; son, Philip Raymond Harris of Martinsville, VA; sisters, Thelma Shelor of Laurel Fork, VA, Virginia Martin of Meadows of Dan, VA, Mary Clifton of Patrick Springs, VA and Maudie Edwards of Martinsville, VA; brothers, Alvin C. Wood and Thomas Wood both of Martinsville, VA, Clifford Wood of Warrior, AL, Eldon Wood, Lester Wood and Sanford Wood all of Meadows of Dan, VA, Richard Wood of Wytheville, VA; grandchildren, Shannon Brewer King, Mark Jason Meadows, Casey Nicole Harris and Kyle Ray Harris and great-grandchildren, Tyler Dale King and Abbey Marie King.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Ridgeway with Pastor Gary Edwards officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Ridgeway, VA. The family will receive friends Monday evening, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., at Norris Funeral Services and other times at the home, 146 Shamrock Drive, Ridgeway, VA.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ridgeway Capital Improvement Fund, P. O. Box 715, Ridgeway, VA 24148.

I was so saddened to hear of this sweet lady's death. In serving her for many years as her insurance agent, I always found Iva to possess a warm, gentle spirit and wonderful hospitality. I will miss her. May the God of all comfort minister His grace to the family now and in the days ahead.
