Ivan Shaw, Jr Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 13 to Feb. 18, 2024.
Wickenburg - Ivan Ray Shaw, Jr. was born in San Diego, CA in 1930. He turned 93 in December, celebrated his 70th anniversary with his bride, Judie in January, and left us in February.

We'd like to tell you all the things he did in his life, but we can't. We can't because we were still finding out about his adventures and careers as recently as last year. He was a California Highway patrolman, an insurance salesman, an airline ticket agent, a travel agent, a hardware salesman, he worked at a liquor store, he operated the tote boards at race tracks in Arizona and Colorado, and he was in the Air Force.

He was never afraid of trying something new: he owned a travel agency, started a circuit board company, and eventually his hardware store experience led to starting A-1 Locksmith & Security Center in 1978. After retiring from A-1, he and Judie moved to Show Low where he owned/operated another lock shop and became active in community organizations such as Meals on Wheels. After this retirement, they traveled the world.

They built things together - from a house in southern California to a grandfather's clock with stained glass. He hiked, fished, water skied, snow skied, and played a wicked game of golf - together they won a lot of "friendly" tournaments. He loved sports, both participating and watching. But his favorite activity was entertaining those around him; he loved to make people laugh and smile.

Ivan leaves behind his wife, Judie, his sons Dwight (Ruth), Barry (Gail), and Tim (Jan) along with 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He brightened the lives of those around him; he will be missed.
