Marsha Freeman

Marsha Rice Freeman, age 75 of Smyrna, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023.
Marsha grew up in Hartwell, and attended Hart County High School. She and her husband, Larry, were married in December of 1969 and recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. She was a very proud graduate of the University of Georgia and a longtime fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. She loved to read, cross stitch, paint, and cook. She spent more than 20 years as the receptionist at Teasley Elementary School where she met many longtime, treasured friends.
Her grandchildren, Ellie and and Julia, were her pride and joy. She loved spending time with them at the beach or at her home in Smyrna, reading books to them and spoiling them with toys.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John A. and Nellie Johnson Rice; and her sister-in-law Connie Rice. Surviving are her husband Larry Freeman; daughters Brittany Freeman, Katie Wasserman (Peter); brother John A. Rice; granddaughters Ellie and Julia Wasserman, and niece Chelsea McKelvey.
A celebration of her life was held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, February 5, in the Family Celebration Center at Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna.
