I met Mike when he was the partner on the Laurel Savings Bank audit. He was always professional, helpful and had a good sense of humor. I'll always remember an enjoyable evening we had a Morton's together. I was sorry to learn of his passing.

Dear Renee and Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Mike's passing. He had a profound impact on my life and career when he took a flyer and hired me in 1984. He always had a twinkle in his eye and smile on his face as he challenged me to do my very best. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Renee, Jason and Jeff,
My wife Amy and I offer our deepest sympathy for your loss. I also joined Peat, Marwick, Mitchell in 1975 and Mike had a great influence on my career. I spent the first two years after college working with Mike on the Mellon Bank audit. He was an extremely hard worker and incredibly devoted to his job. He also had a deep love for the three of you and never lost sight of his duties as a husband and father. Talking about his two boys always brought a smile to his face. I especially remember a tape that he had of Jason singing "King of the Road."
Mike was the partner on the audit of Northwest Savings Bank several years ago, and it was fun renewing acquaintances and catching up on the three of you. Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Renee,
Our sincere condolences. I was stunned. The last time I saw Mike up at South Hills he looked great. He was always one of my favorite people - great attitude, great manager, could disagree without being disagreeable. We'll keep him and you in our prayers.

To All of the Martin Family and Friend Network: I am very sorry to hear about this. I met Mike in 1975 when I joined KPMG, and while i was there he was always a great friend and support for me. Our families have kept in touch since then with annual Christmas cards and notes, and always the annual Martin Newsletter brought back many fond memories of my experiences with Mike and KPMG. I will always miss the personal interaction with both. May God Bless and welcome Mike for the many smiles that he brought, and may He give all of the surrounding family and friends the same strength that Mike always showed to overcome any challenge. My deepest personal regrets, and regards, to all.

My condolences to Mike's family and friends. I am an alum (early '90s) of KPMG and hadn't been in touch with Mike for quite a number of years.
To this day, however, I think and talk about Mike periodically. I will always remember Mike's welcoming remarks to the KPMG "starting class" of 1990.
Those remarks were just one small example of Mike's very candid, straight-forward, honest and oftentimes humorous approach.
We will all cherish the memories we have of Mike.

Renee and Family - I am so deeply sorry to hear of Mike's sudden passing. Mike has left a lasting impression on many during his days at KPMG, and I am one of them. He was always willing to support me when I was having a bad day at work. One of my favorite memories for some reason is when I went into his office having a breakdown and he, in the way he would say it, comforted me by saying Oh, Jesus Christ Colleen, here's a tissue, now pull yourself together. Mike was a big teddy bear inside that tough shell at work. I am also grateful to have gotten to spend time with both of you earlier this summer. May you all find comfort in the memories you hold..and wishing you all much peace in the days ahead. I'm attaching a picture of my last time with Mike..and one I will cherish forever. Here's to you Mike..may you rest in peace. You will be truly missed. My deepest sympathy to all his family and friends. Love, Colleen
