I am so saddened to just find out that Dr Clinton Shope has passed 4 years ago. I and my husband were both his patients at the Boca Center. He pulled me thru my breast cancer, and my husbands prostate cancer...He was family to us both. he was so compassionate..I just googled his name to see if he was still practicing in Boca, to give to a friend who is now battling breast cancer, and I came across his obituary instead.I am so sorry. My condolences to hiswife and children and family.
My deepest sympathy,

Dear Nancy and Family,
Today is April 26, 2015. You have all been on my mind lately. While I was searching Google I ran across this most shocking obituary. I am so sorry for the family's loss. Clint was such a gem of a person. He always had kind words for everyone; and brought such joy and light to those around him! Clint held his family in such high regard with so much love; and God blessed His faithful child with many years spent with them after his cancer during medical school. My prayers are with you all. May you find comfort and peace in knowing Clint is with our creator and will never suffer again! Just imagine, Clint and Mom are probably keeping everyone in Heaven laughing with their puns and jokes!
I Love You! May God Bless You All!!!

I happened upon this while trying to find a warm friend that I remembered from my first year in Medical school at UAB- someone I could never forget- Clint Shope. It's now 2014 and I just learned of his passing. I sat and cried, remembering the many times he gave me advice in medical school, giving me the courage to drop out of medical school and pursue my desired career insted of my dad's. I often think back to his compassionate personality with sincere warmth that he had for his classmates. I always knew he'd be a fantastic doctor and am very saddened by his departure- but I also realize that there's no better place to be than with God and he deserves the best. I have since moved from Alabama to North Carolina and had no idea that he has roots here. I will always have love for him in my heart. Clint would want his family and friends to keep smiling and enjoy life- that's just who he was. My sincere condolensces, from Adora Ocak Clark

My mother was a patient of Dr. Shope's, getting radiation for breast cancer. One treatment, he greeted me in the waiting room, sat down in the chair beside me and was truly interested in my life and my interests - he also promised me he was taking good care of my mother. After he found out I had an immense interest in the brain, he suggested I come to his office and shadow him whenever I wanted to learn more and imaging and what he did. I certainly took advantage of this and he introduced me to a whole new world of science - he also encouraged me to pursue my heart and go into clinical psychology as opposed to medicine and follow my interest in the brain in this field. For a doctor to take their time to do this, is beyond words for me. Dr. Shope went above and beyond, and it was evident to me that he did this not because he felt a duty or was trying to be nice, but just because it was so ingrained in his nature to be a caring and compassionate individual. I wish I would have had the opportunity to thank him one last time, and to let him know that since our time together many years ago, I just stared my PhD in clinical neuropsychology at none other than his alma mater, University of Alabama Birmingham, due in large part to his encouragements. Dr. Shope impacted my life, personally and professionally, and taught me as someone who is going into the field of care that care is SO much more than treatment. I will aspire to be like him with my future patients, and everyone in my life.

I am a past patient of Dr. Shopes, and I don't think I could have gotten through radiation without him. He not only was kind, and encouraging with patients, but also donated a day of letting my son "shadow" him at work. He truly was a special doctor, and a special man who will remain in my memory forever. He was such a healing angel on Earth, so is a very special angel now. I send throughts to his family, and hope they are finding peace and comfort.

To all of Dr. Shope's family members, friends and associates - I'm so sorry for your loss. I just found out today (9/4/12) about his death. I had the privilege of working part time for Dr. Shope and the other doctors in the group back in 2003 - 2006. He was a good man and a great doctor. God be with you Dr. Shope!

I have known Dr Shope since the 1990's and worked with him for over 10 years. When he was in the department, it wasn't work (almost). Even the most hectic days were softened just knowing that he was there. We manned the center in West Boca and probably spent more time together than with anyone else. Except family of course! We mourned the loss of our dear patients, but also, we had a boatload of fun! Woodworking projects, science fair stuff, lunches, birthday parties, holidays, events... Plenty of good clean fun. He was always willing to be of service to anybody. And, without looking for anything in return. It is with a heavy heart and face full of tears that I say goodbye to my dear true friend. Rest in Peace..

Clint, my friend, my doctor. The only doctor I ever looked forward to seeing, no matter how sick, because when our visit ended I always felt better. I will miss my doctor, but mostly my friend.

He brought a lighter side to the office. While my mother is battling lung cancer, he became our Doctor and friend. He told us about his wife, children, travels and we laughed about his creative part of life. I had a nick name for him. He told us how he did furniture over and showed us pictures not only of Pet Scans but of the beautiful work he created in his home. Being an artist we formed a friendship. When he became sick he called my Mother, told her about himself and suggested she come every three months instead of six. He cared and we surely have a hole in our hearts for his loss. Our sincere sympathy.

Elena, Hannah, Luke and Nella,
I am so overwhelmed for all of you. Several times a day the Lord brings you to mind and my heart is aching and praying constantly for you. I have racked my brain thinking about what words I could say that could ease your pain and I can't think of any,or rather none that eased mine, Blake, Lila, or Grant's. What I do KNOW is that the Lord does many amazing, beautiful and eternal things during the midst of great suffering and I pray that all of His Word that you have hidden in your hearts bubble up and carry you on eagle's wings, giving you His peace that surpasses all understanding. I know He will because He promises so. There will come better days and we are proof of that. We are here to encourage, cry, walk, laugh, scream.... with you. Whatever you need we are only a phone call away. We love you so much and we will always think of Clint with that sweet, warm smile on his loving face. Remember all the wonderful times and think on those things. We will miss him but are jealous he is with our Savior Jesus and look forward to the day we will worship with him again.

Dr. Shope was the most compassionate, caring and loving doctor I have ever had. From the day I met with him, I knew I was in safe hands. One day during my radiation treatment I got extremely sick from my migraine and the tech had to stop. He called in Dr. Shope. I remember him telling me I could have cancelled today and he was very concerned about how I was getting home. I told him I was use to driving with these migraines. Dr. Shope took my arm and walked me to my car. I had repeated that story to so many people. He touched the lives of so many.
May your faith in God help you through this time. I know he will be sadly missed by the entire community.
