Jack W. Abbott Sr., age 91, former resident of Monroe, CT passed away July 9, 2014 in his home. Mr. Abbott was born in Camden, N.J. to the late Roy and Ruth Abbott. He graduated from Drexel University and worked for 36 years as an engineer at Campbell Soup Company. He was a member of the Monroe Congregational Church and more recently, a long-time member of United Methodist Church of Monroe. An Air Force veteran, he proudly served our country during WWII. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Irene Nordby Abbott and his sons Mark and Greg Abbott. Survivors include his son Jack W. Abbott Jr. and his wife Sandra of Powder Springs, GA; two daughter-in-laws Lynn Abbott of Monroe and Joyce Abbott of VA; two sisters June Tablack of CA and Dottebob Andes of PA; brother-in-law Edward Nordby of VA; four grandchildren Keith, Jennifer, Bryant and Alexander Abbott; seven great-grandchildren Taylor, Camryn and Ethan Szerszen, Cooper and Tyson Abbott, and Ryan and Brady Peabody and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend his funeral services on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Monroe 515 Cutlers Farm Rd. Monroe, CT. Interment will be private.
