Jack Earl Gardner of Hingham age 91 passed away August 26 at the Pat Roche Hospice Home after a brief illness. He was a 1953 graduate of Hingham High School. He was a peacetime veteran of the US Army serving for a time in Korea. Upon discharge, he took a job working for the Boston Sand & Gravel. He eventually retired from the phone company after many years of service as a member of the IBEW.

Jack was predeceased by his wife Ruth Goulart Gardner, and by his six sisters and one brother. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as his dear friend Elizabeth Sherman, and his goddaughter Rachel Thurlow. His ashes will be interred in the High Street Cemetery, Hingham.

Family and friends will gather for a Memorial Mass at the Church of the Resurrection,1057 Main St., Hingham on Friday, September 12 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude children's research hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Shriners Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, Mass 02114.
