JACK WALLACE KING TITUSVILLE Jack Wallace King, 86, born December 23, 1921 in Asbury Park, NJ, passed away Saturday, Feb ruary 9, 2008 after a long illness. He came to Titusville in 1976 during a distinguished career as an Aerospace Engi neer for the Space Program in 1953 until retiring in 1992. Prior to working in the space program, Jack became a pro fessional musician at the age of 17, then joined the Army Air Corps during World War II and became a fighter pilot flying missions in the Burma-China theater where he was shot down and survived 13 days behind enemy lines prior to reaching an allied camp making him a member of the jungle walk out club. He returned home to become a teacher at Montclair High School and was recalled to active duty during the Korean conflict stationed at Patrick Air Force Base where he attained the rank of Major before resign ing his commission in order to begin his career in the Space Program. Jack leaves behind his wife of over 61 years, Gloria Casa grande King; his children, Charles R. King (granddaugh ter, Corianne King and grand son, William King), Jack L. King (Marlane, grandsons, Scott and Shaun King, great granddaugh ter, McKenna King) and William M. King (wife, Maude and grandson, Troy King). He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Mary King and brothers, Raymond and Richard King. He enjoyed everything about life including reading, playing golf, and after a 60 year layoff, picked up his trombone to play in the Brevard Community Band. But most of all he loved being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be missed dearly by his family and by all the friends that he made during what can only be described as a super life. The North Brevard Funeral Home is handling his final arrangements. Per last wishes, there will be no memorial service or viewing. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Please sign Jacks guestbook at northbrevardfuneralho me.com.
