Jack taught me topology, in a way that illuminated construction of proofs, and also finding their flaws. He also taught me how to scuba dive. I found this page because I have recently found some pretty mathematical gems that I wanted to share with him. I'm sorry to find that can't happen.

We appreciated Jack's concern for animals, and willingness to take on a family of three homeless cats. Our acquaintance with him was brief, but his kindness will be long remembered.
