We greatly miss Jack's smiling and loving countenance. Whenever we walked in to see him, he greeted us with affection and we truly loved him. Like a father to Cy, he was there whenever we needed him. He gave excellent guidance and counsel. Most of all, his generosity was above and beyond anything anyone could expect. We miss him and think of him often.

It was a pleasure to meet Mr. Jack Lerner. He was extremely kind to me. As I heard and saw, he was very generous and loving to everyone. He will ever have a place in my heart.

We had the privilege to meet Mr. Lerner only three or four times over almost a decade, enough to recognize in him what is one of the most valuable qualities in a human being, that is, generosity.

Jack was always extraordinarily kind to me and Karina and he always treated us like family. I will forever remember the advice he gave me before I applied to law school and how supportive and helpful he was while I was searching for a summer job after my first year of law school. It would not be an overstatement to say that I owe my career to Jack.

Early in 2006 Jack Lerner told me something that will be with me for the rest of my life. He looked at me intently and said: “Enjoy it. It all goes by sooo fast”. His voice and image continue to echo in my mind, as a person who lived a long life to its fullest, yet was not tired of it. Jack Lerner knew how to enjoy his life, and did so with tremendous integrity, common sense and generosity. He was a joy to be around and we miss him.

You are remembered as a kind and generous man whose family was always number one. You are also remembered fondly on our joint birthdays.

There is no more fitting place to be remembered than here in the New York Times. Jack Newton Lerner loved the city and he loved this paper.
We who knew him know that he lives on, in our hearts. But even when we are all gone, the city will still be here and since Jack helped to make the city what it is, he lives on with it.
