Dr. Jack Wright Shoultz

Services for Dr. Jack Wright Shoultz, age 85, of Grapeland, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Grapeland with Rev. Bill Denham and Dr. Kelly Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Dailey Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster. Dr. Shoultz died Sunday at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. He was born September 20, 1926 in Teneha to James Clark and Lorena Wright Shoultz. Dr. Shoultz was an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church and a member of the Texas Annual Conference, serving many churches in the East Texas and Gulf Coast area. He was also a rancher and served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. Dr. Shoultz was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Colonel James Clark Shoultz, Jr. and Dr. Vardeman H. Shoultz. He is survived by his wife Gene Dailey Shoultz of Grapeland, daughters Sue Anne Kuhns and husband Bill of Irvine, CA., and Jo Ellen Small and husband Jeff of Grapeland, sister-in-law Jean Shoultz of Abilene, two grandchildren Joseph Kuhns, Jacqueline Culliver and husband Sgt. Scott Culliver, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jackson Shoultz, Joseph Kuhns, Marc Robinson, Jeff Small, Bill Shoultz, Pridgen Washington, Cirilo Perez, John Simpson, Jim Shoultz, Bart Shoultz, Roger Wyche, Rev. Jack Cox, Carl Fick, Wayne Haglund, Eddie McFarland, Trey Henderson, Lee Friesen, Phillip Friesen, Sgt. Scott Culliver, Arland Brown, Carol Owens, Bill Kuhns, Porter Herod, Phillip LeMaster and Dick LeMaster, members of the Men’s Bible Class of First United Methodist Church of Grapeland and classmates of Grapeland High School class of 1944.
