He received his Bachelor of Science at Purdue University in 1964. Moving on to continue his education, he then attained his Masters in 1971 and his PhD. in 1975 at the University of Cincinnati. In 1977 he also became a Physician's Assistant at Cincinnati Technology College. On the beautiful day of July 29, 1978 he married Elizabeth M. Wasserman at the Bellarmine Chapel at Xavier University. In 1979 Jack moved to Knoxville, Tennessee to become a Professor of Engineering Science and Mechanics and was head of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Tennessee. He taught at UT from 1979 until 2007. Jack received many awards for his teaching over the years and in 2007 became Professor Emeritus at UT from 2007 until 2010. During his time in Knoxville, he explored his love of mountain biking, regardless of how many times he broke himself or his bikes. Dr. Wasserman was one of my professors in engineering at UTK and I always enjoyed his classes. He was patient with me usually but encouraged me to figure it out. He positively impacted my life and I'm sure many other UTK students... my condolences to the family.
