Jackalyn "Jackie" Wondrash

Jackalyn "Jackie" Louise Wondrash, born on October 9, 1943, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, in La Mesa, California, surrounded by loved ones. After facing various health challenges with resilience, her generous heart gave out, marking the end of a life filled with love and kindness.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, "Corky" Wondrash; her parents, Paul Flower and Esther (Albright) Marsh; and her siblings, Jerry Flower and Sharon Thompson. She is survived by her daughters, Becky Wondrash and "Pye" Cornejo (Boris); her grandchildren, Katie and Kristie Cornejo; great-grandchild Roma DelaCruz; and her brother, Don Flower (Kathy).

Jackie was a loving and supportive presence in the lives of all who knew her. She had a generous spirit, never hesitating to help others - even strangers - while often putting herself last. Known for her warm personality, she never met a stranger and was slow to anger. Her kindness touched countless lives in immeasurable ways.

She found joy in simple pleasures such as reading and playing games on her Kindle, gambling, dining out, cheering for the San Diego Padres, listening to country music, watching her favorite cable shows, and traveling. Jackie was also known for her quiet humor and memorable sayings like "I'd rather owe you than beat you out of it" and most recently, the frequent conversational starter "they say."

Jackie will be interred alongside her husband at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Jackie's name to the Diabetes Foundation, Macular Degeneration Association, or Research to Prevent Blindness (RPBUSA.org).

There are no words to describe how much she will truly be missed. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
