Jacob Bartlam Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2025.
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jacob Michael Bartlam, who left this world on March 8, 2025, at the age of 33. Born on July 7, 1991, in Fairfax, Virginia, Jake was a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend whose kindness, intellect, and adventurous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.

Jake was a deeply thoughtful and empathetic soul, always seeking to understand both the natural and spiritual world around him. His curiosity was boundless, and his heart was full of compassion. He had an innate ability to bring comfort to others, always putting their needs before his own. His family will remember him as a fun-loving, goofy spirit who found joy in the simple moments and whose kindness knew no bounds. His passing leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of those who loved him, but his memory will forever serve as a beacon of love and understanding.

Jake's early years were spent in Maryland before moving to Virginia, where he attended school in Reston. He later attended Herndon Middle School and graduated from Herndon High School in 2009. In high school, he ran track and cross country, developing a love for endurance and exploration. He was also passionate about computer programming and video gaming, pursuits that reflected his sharp mind and creative spirit. In 2012, he earned an associate's degree from Northern Virginia Community College.

Jake's love for adventure and discovery led him to Louisiana, where he worked as a lab technician, and later, to the open road as a long-haul truck driver from 2015 to 2024. He embraced the freedom of the road, taking every opportunity to experience the beauty of the country, hike through national parks, and connect with the natural world.

A celebration of Jake's life will be held at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church on March 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (http://afsp.org), in the hope of supporting others who may be struggling.

Jake is survived by his loving mother, Cynthia S. Bartlam, his father, Jeffrey Bartlam, his grandfather, Anthony Skapars, his grandparents, Bruce and Pat Bartlam, his brother, Joseph Bartlam, his sister, Blair Bartlam, his stepmother, Cyndi Bartlam, and his stepbrothers, Carysn, Michael, and Jaxon. He will also be deeply missed by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who were blessed to know him.

As we mourn Jake's passing, we also celebrate the beauty of his life-the love he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the depth of his kindness. May he find peace on the next step of his journey, and may his memory continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved him.
