Obituary of Jacob Ryan Higgins

Milo/Brewer-Jacob Ryan Higgins,18, passed away peacefully in the arms of his fiance, mother, sister, and "second mom" on November 7, 2024, after a strong, courageous battle with Ewing Sarcoma. Jacob was the light in every room. His laughter and sense of humor was contagious, and his love for life and "his" people was powerful. Jacob accomplished many milestones even after being diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma. He fought hard and achieved many of his dreams. He graduated from Penquis Valley High School, Class of 2024; walking down the aisle gleaming with joy and accomplishment. He was accepted into the University of Maine, Orono, majoring in Mathematics Education where he was able to attend one semester and was awarded a certificate of dedication and exemplary performance. His mind was powerful with math, he could solve any problem without hesitation, a math genius without a doubt.

Jacob met the love of his life, Delaynie Hallahan, his fiance, his best friend, his everything. They were engaged and planned to be married in December 2024. Although time was not in their favor, their love was stronger than most, in their hearts they were already wed by bond, connection, and love.

Jacob is survived by Delyanie (Laynie) Hallahan, his fiance and the love of his life where they lived in Brewer with Jacob's "second Mom" and soon-to-be mother-in-law, Kelly Hallahan. Jacob's mother; Christina Doore and her husband Nathan. His father, Daryl Higgins, and partner Aaron Barriault. His siblings which he adored and were his best friends; Jonathan, Emily, and Evelyn. Step siblings; Baeli and Toretto.

Maternal grandparents; Christopher DeMello and Tina Vietze and Maternal great grandparents John and Kathleen DeMello and predeceased by maternal great grandmother; Aileen Stone. He was predeceased by his Paternal Grandparents; Neil Higgins Sr. and Ida Higgins.

Maternal Aunts/Uncles; Monique Goyete, Jacqueline Goyette, Randy Brenton Jr., and Ashley Brenton. Paternal Aunts/Uncles; Neil Higgins Jr., Sabrina Theriault, and Marci Moulton.

Jacob was supported and loved by the community of Milo. When you drive through town you will see many "Jacob's Flock" signs, and people who were always rallying for him and his courageous battle. He had many close friends who he adored and loved. Jacob's life was far too short for his brilliance and abilities but the time he spent on earth he made an impact wherever he went. Never a day did he complain, he just continued with positivity and aspiration. He was a true gem and someone everyone should strive to be more like.

A special thank you to the Northern Light Cancer care team that treated Jacob like family and supported him throughout his journey with love, kindness, and grace.

A private celebration of life will be held in honor of Jacob, as requested by him with specifics before his passing.

Jacob found me online and bugged me to go on a date and as he always would say I " rejected" him until I finally realized how amazing kindhearted funny and adorable he was. On October 28th 2023 he came over to my house for the first time with a KitKat in hand because he remembered me saying it was my favorite and it was that moment looking into his eyes standing in my driveway I knew he was different in the best way. After he left he texted me "will you just admit we are together" I said yes and it was the best decision I´ve ever made. We had our first official date at Kobe´s on November 11th after going to the craft fair in the mall. Everyday I fell more in love with him we made so many memories and did so many things together some of our favorite things was doing ceramic painting going to different restaurants or simply just cuddling in bed and watching TikToks. When he graduated high school he moved in with me and we were both so happy to finally live together and spend every night in each other´s arms. The end of August we moved into his college dorm and it was like our own little apartment he was so proud of the dorm until he sadly had to come home on hospice. Even then he was always so happy and loving so much so he proposed on October 23rd and of course I said yes, we planned our wedding for December 21st he was so excited about it every night before he fell asleep he whispered you´re my fiancé it was the cutest thing. For Halloween we went as Batman and cat woman and has so much fun we both always wanted to do a fun couples costume and we did. We sadly didn´t get a lot of time together but he was my entire world and the love of my life he always will be. Our love was a unique type of love it was pure and real and I´m so lucky I had him for the time I did.

Beautifully written. I fondly remember little Jacob as a second grader in my classroom. His smile would light up any room. I know that he will be missed by many, especially his sisters. They admired him so much. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
