Jacob worked as a commercial construction estimator for Phillips Company. He was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church Belleville IL, and the Frank Lloyd Wright Organization.
He was preceded in death by his:
Grandpa, Wayne "Flip" Phillips
Maternal Grandparents, James C. and Helen S. Smith
Surviving are his:
Wife, Bethany Phillips, nee Matlock, of Belleville, IL
Sons:
Gideon Phillips
James Phillips
Parents, Jerry and Maryhelen, nee Smith, Phillips of Belleville, IL
Brother, Joshua (Gwen) Phillips of Kirkwood, MO,
Grandma, Helen Phillips
In honor of Jacob's life, the family is requesting that guests express their love and support by wearing bright and happy colors to celebrate his memory.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, St. Louis Children's Hospital, or St. Matthew Youth & Children Ministry
Visitation: Visitation from 4:30 pm – 5:00 pm, on Friday, September 30th, 2022 at St. Matthew U.M.C. in Belleville, IL.
Funeral: A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 pm, Friday, September 30th, 2022 at St. Matthew U.M.C. with Pastor Andy Black officiating.

Dear Jacob ,
Every day that passes is a reminder of you! Your boys are growing so fast and they are so loving, just as you were! Craig and I miss you so much but what a reminder to us that you are at peace with our Lord and Savior! If God opens a window, down here on earth, I know you are smiling and those blues are sparkling! I had never met Jake but was well acquainted with his Grandmother and Father:
Dear Helen and Family,
there is a poem I I am fond of when it comes time to the passing of a loved one..
The final paragraph reads:
And, just at the moment when someone says
"There he is gone,"
there are other eyes watching his coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout,
"Here he comes!"
And I am sure Helen and Jerry.... Flip is there among them waiting for Jake......

Jake asked me to his Senior prom when I was a highschool sophomore (as friends). He was the most kind, generous friend to me in the years I knew him. He never knew how much that memory meant to me and I am so sad we lost touch many years ago. My complete condolences to his wife, kids, and family.
