Jacqueline L Griffin

Jacqueline L. Griffin, 91, passed July 16, 2025, at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. A long-time resident of Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., Mrs. Griffin was a respected and beloved member of her community.

Born on September 7, 1933, in Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Griffin began assisting with her father's accounting practice during her teenage years. That early experience led her to a career in the Federal government, where she held various positions, including foreign assignments. It was during this time that she met her husband, Edward J. Griffin. After leaving Federal service, Mrs. Griffin established her own tax practice, continuing to prepare tax returns and offer tax advice up until her passing. At the time of her death, she was also actively involved in the management of Help Unlimited, a business she co-owned.

Mrs. Griffin was an avid traveler. She and her husband enjoyed several African safaris, and in later years, she explored Europe with her sister. She was also a dedicated sports fan and a longtime season ticket holder for the Washington Wizards, rarely missing a home game. Her love for animals led her to raise several AKC champion Doberman Pinschers and later, Boston Terriers. She was also a passionate knitter and participated regularly in knitting programs at the Smithsonian Institution.

Mrs. Griffin was a devoted friend and neighbor, known for her generosity and kindness to those in need.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Griffin, in 1997, and by her stepdaughter, Suzanne Griffin. She is survived by her sister, Louise Lovett, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Dominic Church, 630 E Street SW, Washington, D.C., on August 23, 2025, at noon. A gathering will be held immediately following the service.
