In Loving Memory of Jacqueline Corinne (Bodine) Kolbusz

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jackie Kolbusz, who departed this life peacefully on September 11, 2025 at the age of 84 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many whose warmth, kindness, and generosity touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Born on June 12, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan, Jackie lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and love. She attended Wayne State University earning a degree of Bachelor of Science in Education and later earned a Master's degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. She concluded her studies with a Sixth-year degree from Southern Connecticut State University and enjoyed a career teaching at Oliver Wolcott Technical School and Windsor High School, Connecticut.

Jackie was known for her unwavering faith as a Christian and always ready with a kind word or a helping hand. While raising her family, she enjoyed attending many of her children's swim meets, family camping trips, fishing and beauty of the outdoors of Colorado where her heart truly was. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Westcliffe, Colorado and later the Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon, Connecticut. She learned to paint while retired in Westcliffe, Colorado and became a truly gifted artist ~ many people will enjoy her paintings for generations to come. Jackie's spirit of generosity and compassion will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

She is survived by husband of 61 years, Frank Kolbusz, son, Mark (Sue) Kolbusz, and daughter, Cheryl (Tom) Sistare, and four grandsons: Trevor and Tyler Kolbusz and Jacob and Nathan Sistare; her sister, Edith Nader and brother, Clive Bodine. She also leaves behind many dear friends in Westcliffe and Canon City, Colorado and at Belden Forest Court in Simsbury, Connecticut. She was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Sherman.

A private family memorial is planned. Jackie will be laid to rest in the Simsbury Cemetery, Connecticut.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jackie's memory to The Curing Retinal Blindness Foundation, a cause dear to her heart at https://www.crb1.org, on behalf of Jackie's grandson, Trevor Kolbusz.

Jackie Kolbusz will be remembered for her loving nature, steadfast dedication to Christ, and the joy she brought to so many lives. May she rest in peace.

Fun memories of Jackie. She was always ready with a smile, laugh, and encouraging word. Her love of Christ was evident to all. Condolences to your family.

Jackie had the gift of telling a story usually some simple every day occurrence and finding the humor in it, would leave me laughing out loud! We would giggle like two school girls, so much so, even a few days later, remembering a text that she had sent, I'd start laughing out loud all over again.
When Jackie first learned of her diagnosis she told me how much she had wanted to be a part of The Great Rapture. Thankfully the Holy Spirit gave me the right words... "Jackie, you will be on the welcoming committee!" She liked that answer. It was a comfort for both she and I. Friends with history are so very special and she will be sorely missed by me but I know I'll see her again when Jesus calls me home.
