Jade Laswell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 12, 2023.
Jade Christine Laswell, 48, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023. Celebration of Life: 3 pm Sunday, November 19 at the AISD Athletics Center. Jade was born August 27, 1975 in Fort Worth, Texas and grew up in Arlington. She attended Sam Houston High School, graduating in 1993, and was a part of the Lady Texan volleyball, basketball and track teams. She was a valuable member of the Final Four Volleyball team in 1992, Miss Sam Houston 1993, and District MVP for basketball in 1993. She went on to play basketball at Tarleton State University, and was a founding member of 'Duck Camp' there on campus. Jade also graduated from Texas State University with a Master's Degree. Jade started a global charity, Craft Hope, in 2010 that allowed her to express her creative personality to benefit those in need. She authored a book titled 'Craft Hope' to elaborate on her experiences and projects. Jade worked as a teacher for 21 years, and dedicated herself to the schools she worked in both inside and outside of the classroom. She was a volleyball and basketball coach, yearbook teacher, speech and debate coach, and engineering club sponsor. Jade was inducted into the Arlington Hall of Honor earlier this Spring as an 'Everyday Hero' because of her dedication to the city of Arlington.

Jade's self-proclaimed greatest accomplishment was being a mom. Jade married John Dustin Laswell on March 12, 2012. Together, they raised Julia Laswell, Makena Sims, Keegan Sims, and Chloe Sims. Jade was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, friend, and warrior. Her legacy lives on through her husband and children.

Jade was a part of our life when my daughter Shelli and Jade became Besties.
We watched her play volleybal, basketball and track. Along with her mom and grandparents we cheered from the sidelines. We took her to our family reunion in New Orleans and MS. Three silly girls were amusing. She lived next door to us about two years. One Thanksgiving when she lived next door she walked over and had dinner with us. I didn´t know she was told not to eat as her mom was cooking spaghetti. I think that may have been the day she became my PIA. Don´t get me started on New Kids on The Block.
I got to watch from afar seeing her raise her kids, marrying the man of her dreams and sadly becoming a Warrior. She fought hard as many prayed daily for her thru each battle she faced. She fought each battle with grace and strength.
So many will have memories and will remember her always thru sweet tributes.
Dustin,Chloe,Keegan,Makena,Julia,Karen and family,I hope each sweet memory replaces a tear. God Bless all of you and all that loved Jade. Rest in Heavenly Peace Jade. We will always love and miss you.

Jade was my best friends mom growing up. But she took on a role so much more then just that. She was my basketball coach that led us to the championship. She was the second mom I needed when my parents went through a divorce. She was the role model I needed when everyone around me wasn´t stable enough to be. I looked up to Jade my entire life and she never stopped being that role model. Cant wait to get a big hug from her in Heaven one day.
