I never looked forward to the day and days following one of my parents not being on this earth! Over the last couple of years, we'd gotten really close! Before I moved from Louisville to Greenville, he'd given me a picture that I kept in my wallet and on several occasions, sometimes for no reason at all, I would look at it and smile! I'd often think to myself..."Umph, he thinks he looks CUTE!" :-) I can see that same proud grin on my son's face too, of course, that Classic Carter trademark! :-) There are still times that I pick up my cell phone to call him, then it dawns on me that I can't! I still can't remove the number from my directory yet! To me, it still belongs there! That's the part that really gets to me sometimes...even now, sitting at my desk, the thought of my daddy crosses my mind like my favorite melody on the radio! I will forever miss him but I will always smile, just thinking about how we managed over the last few years to establish that "father-n-daughter" relationship that I'd missed growing up! I know he's in heaven playing those card tricks on everyone who made it there before him! Everytime we ended our conversations on the phone, I'd always say..."I Love YOU!" So I say to my daddy once more..."I Love YOU"! I miss you!

Dear Launette,Rockney,Larry Jr.,Robyn, Dwight, Dwayne, and other family members touched by the homegoing of Mr. Larry Carter Sr:
My hart goes out to each and every one of you in the physical loss you have experienced. I have many fond memories of Mr. Carter as I would sit on the porch of 704 18th Ave and Mr. Carter would come to visit next door. He was always so charismatic and genuine as he would flash that signature smile. Take confort in knowing that he was influential in many lives and now reaping his just rewads on high.

Even though I only met him twice, he was my grandfather and now he is gone I loved him very much and I talked to him on the phone sometimes. Now I can't and it hurts me with a pasion. We will miss him very much and though his body is gone, his spirit will live on in our hearts and souls forever.

I am so sorry about your dad, Rocky, I lost mine too at about the same age. I miss him everyday, but I cope. I think about all the fun things we did together and remember the good times and cherish that God allowed him to be my dad for 30 years. I hold on to what he taught me, and I know he has NOT REALLY left me and will forever be at my side.
