Nancy and Todd-beautiful parents of Jake,
I remember this little boy arriving the first day of school surrounded by mommy, daddy, aunt, uncle and cousins. This little Jake who was about to join us for his days. He didn't seem afraid at all, only anxious to take on the world. Little did we know that this "little man" was going to rock ours'. Jake was always the little guy we all wanted to hold on our laps - and often took our turns to do so, in spite of the fact that he wasn't a "little boy" and just wanted to be on the go. The loss of Jake has been so painful, the whole in our hearts too big to fill. Jake was a force to be reconned with, and he never wanted to be left out of anything, nor was he ever. Thank you for your gift to us.

I have only known Jake for a short time, seeing him at masses at the school. Every time I saw him, he had a huge smile on his face, that lit up the room. My daughters Ashlyn and Meghan had the pleasure of helping Jake in school in his class. He will be sadly missed by my family.

Eventhough I only worked with your son for a month, I have touched forever. His smile and laughter will always have a special place in my heart. Not only has he touched me, but your unconditional commitment to him and devotion to making his life an amazing one, has also touched me. Jake is so lucky to have lived with such amazing parents who never stopped loving him and offering him the best the world had to offer for him! You never held back and did so much for him. You have so many memories to look back to that will hopefully help you through these very difficult times.
Your love and devotion to your son is truely an inspiration to me. God blessed Jake with two angels of his own, and now he will watch over you and take care of you!

Although I never had an opportunity to meet your son, I cannot help but feel a real sense of loss. It has so very quickly brought me back to my own experience of this kind.
Many years ago when I lived in a small town in the Ottawa Valley, I lost my own brother to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The event of his death had a definite impact on my family’s life - especially for my mom. We all felt the effects of his death for a long time.
Although I was younger at the time, I remember feeling that no words could ever explain why these kinds of things happen. No words could really answer my question - Why him? No words could explain how we would recover from this.
I remember so many family friends, teachers, church ministers and several people from the community who we didn’t even know who brought food, flowers and words of condolences to our door. They all gathered around us to support us though the most difficult time that my family had ever experienced.
Without a doubt, this extremely sad and unfortunate event will have a very large impact on both of you and your families. Let the caring people around you support and help you in any way that they can.
Although this is a dark time and that at this moment you are probably feeling that things will never be better, please know that as the days, weeks, months and years pass that you will start to feel stronger and things will get better. Time will help to heal, and you will always remember your son Jake in your hearts and through your fond memories.
You are in many people’s prayers and thoughts at this difficult time.

Rheaume family,
Our daughter was in Jake's kindergarden class at St. Luke's.
Recently we had started meeting Jake's bus early in the morning so Bella could wish "good morning!" to him first. We said a prayer for Jake last night and Bella asked him if he was sitting on the moon or a star?
Jake taught us a lot in such a short amount of time.
