AGE: 89 • Salisbury, NC
James B. Allerton, 89, of Salisbury, North Carolina died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home, Salisbury, N.C. He was born in Freehold and had resided here before moving to North Carolina.
He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Philippines.
He was a machinist for Metallo Gasket Company, New Brunswick before his retirement. Prior to that he was employed at the A.& M. Karagheusian Rug Mill, Freehold.
He was predeceased by his wife, Doris Allerton and his parents, William and Orpha Allerton. A brother, Robert Allerton, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Croft and her husband John; two grandchildren, John and Carol; a nephew and his wife, William and Lori Allerton; a sister, Anna Jane Heumiller and husband Lee; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Allerton; three great nieces, two great nephews, a great great nephew, and a great great niece.; dear friends, Todd and Liam Fuester and Tina Salinas.
The viewing will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Marlboro Memorial Cemetery, Route 79, Marlboro.
