ANDREWS - James T. Of Lockport died on March 9 in his 85th year. "Old Jim", son of Edward Andrews and Isabel McMaster of Lockport, was born on March 19th, 1925 and raised in Youngstown. At 17 he joined the Navy and served in the Pacific Theater. Upon his return he studied at The Art Institute of NY, Paris's Atelier Fernard Leger, and the Art Institute of Buffalo. In 1952 he married Doris Krumbholz of Buffalo (died 1987) and moved to NYC for the art scene and to participate in the civil rights struggle. An artist his whole life, Jim's last show was in December at the OH gallery in Lewiston. His work includes book illustration, printmaking, sculpture, painting, drawings, museum exhibit design and was a major art director in New York City. Recent artworks include nearly one hundred charcoal portraits shown at the Tuscarora Meeting House, and as well as large scale portraiture. Jim was a 28 year member of AA and sponsored many new members. He is survived by his children Michael, Elizabeth, Matthew, Steven, and Laura. His youngest son Eric predeceased him in 1983; he has nine grandchildren and leaves Charley, his dog. A memorial will be held on May 14th at the Tuscarora Meeting House from 11 AM-3 PM, officiated by Reverend Barry Lillis.
