James Douglas "Jim" BARBER

With broken hearts, the family of James (Jim) Barber announces his peaceful passing on March 6, 2023, at Innisfree hospice. Jim had his family by his side, and he was wrapped in their love and support throughout his difficult journey. Jim was a warrior who fought a hard and courageous battle with cancer with grace, dignity, love, and laughter right to the end. Jim was just shy of his 81st birthday. Best friend, protector, and devoted loving husband to Nancy. Proud father of Shelley Chambers (Keith Wilton), Wendy Herod (Karl), Trish Hergott (Chris), Michael Barber (Regina), and Jonathon Barber (Jenn). Fun loving Pop to ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Jim will be dearly missed by all. Everyone who met Jim loved him for his charm, charisma, kind heart, humble disposition, contagious laugh, and fantastic sense of humour. Jim's zest for living life large and his pursuit of a good time included boating, fishing, golfing, entertaining, travel, adventures and meeting new people everywhere he went. Jim liked new challenges and was a proud entrepreneur in a variety of industries which Jim and Nancy owned and operated. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg to celebrate Jim's life and legacy with visitation on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the New Hamburg Legion.
