James Barron Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 9, 2025.
James Michael Barron

1961 – 2025

James Michael Barron, known to family and friends as Jim, passed away suddenly on August 31, 2025, while in Brazil with his wife, Bianca, to attend their niece's wedding. He was 63 years old.

Born on October 11, 1961, Jim is survived by his loving wife, Bianca, his cherished daughter, Sophia Barron, and his devoted brothers, John and Pat.

Jim had recently retired from Hologic, Inc., where he dedicated many years of service. A man of many passions, he enjoyed reaching across borders and cultures through his many travels and ham radio, forming connections with people around the world. He was also a skilled long-range target shooter and a proud defender of the Second Amendment. He shared his expertise generously as a gun safety instructor and lent his talents to organizing security details for several well-known speakers.

Jim was also proud of his volunteer service on the Emergency Response Team for the town of Pepperell, where he gave his time to help keep the community safe. He also deeply loved his second family and close friendships in Brazil, where he and Bianca often visited and found joy in the community there.

Jim's greatest joy, however, came from the people in his life. He was at his happiest surrounded by friends, where his quick wit, storytelling, and infectious laughter could light up any room. Those who knew him will remember not only his dedication to his hobbies and causes, but also the warmth, humor, and loyalty he brought to every relationship.

A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held at his home in Pepperell, Massachusetts, on October 11, 2025, 2:00 PM-5:00 PM - what would have been his 64th birthday.

Jim will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and friendship will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Working with Jim was always a pleasure. Plenty of fun with his infectious laugh. Always a stand up guy, dedicated to his family and a friend I will never forget. God bless!

The baron boys were regulars at our house when we lived in Framingham growing up. Jim was often at our house with my younger brothers Rob and Jim and his own younger brothers in various mixes playing on the rope swing, riding mini bikes, and laughing about all kinds of goofy stuff. Jim saw us Royce boys going through the skateboard phase, living the rockstar dream with a noisy GarageBand, and all of our parents putting up with us wolfing down dinner to get back to playing with our friends even sooner!. I joined the military and moved away after high school, and have not seen the old Framingham gang in decades, but it is comforting to know that Jim's life was so replete with warmth and companionship. Bless the family during this difficult time, David Royce.

It was a gift to gather with so many friends to celebrate Jim´s life on what would have been his 64th birthday. Jim touched countless people with his joyful, fun-loving spirit, and the love we all have for him brought us together. The happy memories we share continue to ease the pain of his loss and fill our hearts with joy-today and always.

Words cannot describe how I feel.
Jim was the type of person that you could not see for along time and when you did you felt like you were never apart. I still can´t believe that I can´t just call him and we get together. We were talking of trying to do a group cruise out Boston next year and laughed at all the great friends we would invite and what a party it would be. Well the parties will never be the same now that he is gone. Rest in peace Jim and know you are dearly missed. We all feel you now and we will meet again and what a party it will be old friend.

I worked with Jim at Hologic for several years. Genuine, good, and a laugh that was unique. He threw the most amazing parties, I remember a Halloween party where he cleared out his house so his friends could trash it! A privilege to have been associated with him. RIP, dude!

Bianca, Sophia, John and Pat. I grieve for you, and grieve with you, on your heartbreaking loss. Jim was a like-minded friend who I had anticipated sharing years of stimulating conversations and learning from his wealth of knowledge and experiences as he progressed through his retirement years. I will miss him deeply but will also carry the joyful memories of the times we spent together. God bless you and God rest his soul.

Jim will always live on in my memories as one of my first managers to continually not only challenge me to be better, but also to believe in me enough to drive me to thrive.
The Zoots days weren´t the only times we shared, I´ll always be grateful for him taking me under his wing and teaching me about some of his other passions and the great adventures they´ve led me on.
His infectious laugh and kind heart will be missed.
Bianca, Sophia, John, Pat, and the rest of Jim´s family, I send my sincere condolences.

I am so sorry for all of you. Jim was such a strong presence. I worked with him at Hologic for several years. Every time we´d hear his laugh it would make everyone else laugh. I have great memories of camping trips with the gang.

Jim was an amazing guy. We spent so many long days together during the Zoots startup. I spent 25 years in the Navy and I learned to form strong bonds with shipmates, and my connection to Jim rivaled the best of them. We were part of the Zoots, "Dream Team" his brother already shared the photo of us all here. Jim and I remained in contact, mostly through facebook, but I always hoped to reconnect in person. Now I will have to relish the time I got to spend with him, and hope someday I will get to laugh with him again.

I traveled from Costa Rica to Boston for my first visit to the company. Feeling like the most out-of-place person there-a normal sensation for a newcomer-I was especially grateful when Jim became one of the first team members to offer the support I truly needed. He invited me to lunch, shared a meal with me, had a beer with me after work, and told me stories about Massachusetts. I´ll always be grateful to him for making me feel at home....

When I hear this song by Pearl Jam, I will think of Jim. You were my rock, my benevolent old soul who helped me through an excruciating time in my life.

It's your song now buddy! - See you on the other side - Mark

"Just Breathe"

Yes, I understand that every life must end, uh-huh
As we sit alone, I know someday we must go, uh-huh
Oh I'm a lucky man, to count on both hands the ones I love
Some folks just have one, yeah, others, they've got none, uh-huh

Stay with me
Let's just breathe

Practiced all my sins, never gonna let me win, uh-huh
Under everything, just another human being, uh-huh
I don't wanna hurt, there's so much in this world to make me bleed

Stay with me
You're all I see

Did I say that I need you?
Did I say that I want you?
Oh, if I didn't I'm a fool you see
No one knows this more than me

As I come clean
I wonder everyday, as I look upon your face, uh-huh
Everything you gave
And nothing you would take, oh no

Nothing you would take
Everything you gave

Did I say that I need you?
Oh, did I say that I want you?
Oh, if I didn't I'm a fool you see
No one knows this more than me
As I come clean, ah

Nothing you would take
Everything you gave
Hold me 'til I die
Meet you on the other side

Jim was not just a mentor to me when I first started at Hologic; he was a guiding light and a true friend. From the very beginning, he welcomed me with kindness, patience, and unwavering support. Jim had a remarkable way of making you feel valued, no matter how new or inexperienced you were. He didn't just offer advice about work-he shared wisdom about life, about resilience, and about finding joy in the small things. His words always carried weight, and his encouragement left a lasting impact on my journey, both professionally and personally.

From Costa Rica, I want to say, 'Pura Vida, Jim.' You embodied the essence of that phrase-living life to the fullest, spreading positivity, and embracing every moment with warmth and generosity. Your absence will be deeply felt, but your legacy will live on in the countless lives you touched. Thank you for everything, Jim. You will be greatly missed.

Jim was more than a friend to me, he was more like a brother. A friendship that started in the late 1960's. Though I moved away from Massachusetts in the late 1970's we stayed in touch and got together a few times throughout the years. We both bought white corvettes in the early 2000's and were enthusiasts of the cars until we both sold them. We had a fantasy football league for several years with Jim's two brothers John and Pat, that gave me a chance to enjoy a visit with a great bunch of guys. I received the last text from Jim the morning of 08/31, a picture from 2009 of the fantasy football league, we had a laugh about. Jim was a great, caring and fun guy to be around that will be missed by all who knew him. Thanks for everything Jim, knowing you made me a better person.

I´m so sad to hear the passing of Jim. My condolences to the family. I met Jim at the Taco maker. Later I met Pat and John. We all became good friends. I will always remember his smile and contagious laughter, the many house parties and dancing nights. I cherish the Christmas Eve visits. Thank you for always being so welcoming. When he worked in Marlborough I was working in Southborough and we always met up for lunch to catch up, laugh and reminisce. Jimbo I will miss you. Rest in peace my friend. Estela

As we honor Jim's life, we will cherish not only his laughter and smiles but also the way he made each of us feel seen, valued, and loved. On a lighter note, we will remember his epic Halloween celebrations back in the day in Framingham. That legacy lives on within all of us. Rest easy, dear friend, Jim Bob-Barron. ~ Your friend & co-worker from Hologic - Diane Conlin

I worked with Jim for 22+ years at Hologic. He was always a pleasure to work with. His laugh was infectious, an also made him easy to find at times! If you did not know which conference room the meeting was in, just listen for a minute and wait for Jim's laugh... It was a treat when Jim would come down to CT to work on a project and I always looked forward to 5:00 when we could head out for a drink or enjoy a cigar. Once we were outside of the office, we would often talk about anything except work -fantasy football, movies, politics - you name it! Jim will certainly be missed by all that had the pleasure to know him. RIP Jim & Cheers, brother!

I am sad and shocked to here of Jim's passing, my heart goes out to Jim's family in this difficult time. Jim and I have not spoken in many years, but I remember him fondly. I had the pleasure of meeting Jim on his very first day at Hologic, on prospect Street in Waltham. He joined the Incoming Inspection team under Rick Mongeau and Bill Mazzarini. Jim was a guy that made the job fun, he had this natural ability to make people laugh, even when they thought they couldn't! I was lucky enough to work with Jim a few times in my career, I will never forget his friendly way and his infectious laugh. May he rest in peace.
