BLACKWOOD, JAMES L., of Vestavia Hills, died Tuesday, December, 16, 2008. He was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church for several years. He was a retired carpenter. His family was his life. Mr. Blackwood was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Blackwood and a daughter Donna Blackwood. He is survived by his wife: Margie Blackwood, son: Charles B. Blackwood (Margaret), his daughters: Deborah Blackwood, Denise Nickolson and Danita Blackwood, a step-son: George Alan Little, step-daughter: Marie L. Lowery, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. A private family burial will be at Greenview Cemetery in Goodwater, Alabama. Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel (205) 879-3401.

Our deepest sympathy. We love Danita Blackwood, and consider her our family. Her Father and Mother must have been pretty great, to have raised a person like Danita.
