James "Jim" Day Blazier, 66, of Harvard, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017, in Nora Springs, Iowa.

He was born on August 17, 1951, in Harvard to James and Elizabeth Blazier. He married Dixie Berryhill on November 7, 1970 in Harvard. Jim retired in 2014 after running his own business, Blazier Trucking, for many years. He enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, storytelling, reading books to his grandchildren, and having breakfast with his friends. He was also very active in his church, participating in many different activities and committees throughout the years. Jim was a very loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed by all.

He is survived by his children, Carla Sipe, Jessica (Eric) Sugalski, and Hannah (Mike) Jesski; mother, Elizabeth Blazier; brother, Roger (Dale) Blazier; sisters, Robin (Al) Sack and Lynette Blazier; 8 grandchildren, Rachael and Jacob Hayes, James, Jonathon, and Kaitlynn Jesski, and Annica, Julia and Nathan Sugalski; great-granddaughter, Amelia Hayes; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, James F. Blazier; and his brother, Dan Blazier.

The visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00pm Friday, Dec. 8 at the First Presbyterian Church, 7100 Harvard Hills Rd., Harvard. The funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday, Dec. 9 at the church with Pastor Claire Brennecka officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
