I had Mr. Bunnell for an English elective at Southfield High School. Fantasy and Science Fiction, and I believe it was the 1980-1981 school year. I picked up "Nine Princes in Amber" by R Zelazny, one of the course books the other day, and thought about Mr. Bunnell. He was a great teacher, and I am sorry to learn of his passing.

Jim was such a consistent presence in the lives of my wife and children, it´s hard to signal out one memorable moment. Christmas together with Jim and the kids, Mexico vacation, Cruise with the families, there were so many special times. Times that we will all cherish. This was a good man, and he lived a very good life. His heart will live always with those of us he touched. Love you Buddy

I will miss Jim´s dry sense of humor. "do you really want me to answer that" after I gave him a wide opening to interject his humor. Jim had a great way of looking at different scenarios in bible study and in meetings. I always liked hearing his viewpoints. He will be missed. Praying for his family and friends in this difficult time of loss. Love, Kathy Justin (Scott and Kathy)

As a senior in Southfield High I attended Mr. Bunnell´s Fantasy & Science Fiction class. It opened up a whole new world as we read many of the Sci-Fi classics that became TV series or major Motion Pictures: Lord of the Rings, Childhood´s End, Foundation, 1984, etc. He was a passionate and engaging educator that epitomized what a dedicated teacher can achieve. It´s been over 45 years and I still remember his mod outfits and engaging discussions. RIP to a truly dedicated and unforgettable teacher.
