James Michael Caldwell

James Michael (Mike) Caldwell, 62, was the son of V.B. Caldwell and Myrtle I. (Green) Caldwell, both deceased. Mike passed away on Friday, April 22, 2016 in Midland, Texas. He was born on May 26, 1953 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Mike was married to LaDonna Phelps Caldwell. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dr. V. Kenneth and sister-in-law, Billie Caldwell. He is survived by his wife, LaDonna; her two daughters, Cindy Stiles and Susan Turner; and his two daughters, Jennifer Thomas and husband, Jamie, Nolene James and husband, Doug; five grandchildren, Emily, Sonya, Alexis, Kampbel, and Nolan; two sisters, Shirley Roark and husband, David, Judith Smith and husband, Kenneth; special nieces and nephews Victor Caldwell, Kathy Ingram, Nanette Childers, Larry Roark, Stacia Glenn, Aimee Slusher; and many grand nieces and nephews. Mike was a graduate of Nacogdoches High School and attended Southwestern Theological Seminary in Waxahachie. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and afterwards worked in several cities in Texas. While he was working in the oil fields of west Texas, he met the love of his life, LaDonna, at the Assembly of God church. Marriage soon followed. He loved to sing praise and worship music at his church. Mike made several CDs of original songs that his family and friends loved and enjoyed. He believed music was his calling to spread the joy of Jesus. We all loved him and will miss him, but know he is now singing to his Mom and Dad. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors. The service will be officiated by Pastor Bailey Alders. A gathering and reception for family and friends will follow the service at the funeral home. Then Mike will be laid to rest next to his Mom and Dad at Evergreen Memorial Park in Crockett, Texas at 2 p.m. Online condolences may be offered www.casonmonk-metcalf.com.
