Well, I decided to see where and what Jim was doing. Well, to my surprise, I was shocked to realize how late I was to discover his passing. I always was kept in laughter with a good baseball joke of years gone by. One of his favorite quotes at that time was of the many sayings of Yogi Berra. I think at that time he was his favorite person to quote. He always kept us laughing . I admired his great arm. It came out if his hand like it shot out of a cannon , but smooth, relaxed and flexible it was. I was a teammate of Jim's and again in awe of him as a player. I know the kids in the schools he taught must have felt the same way I did as someone you could look up to, pattern your life after , admire, and carry with you his example of a good person and character. Thanks Jim for giving back to the kids what you learned through your great life.

Met Jimmie in 1965 on NYU Baseball team and became friends. Jimmy was one of the best athletes I ever played with and the most fun to hang with.
To this day the only ballplayer I ever saw with a better arm than Jimmy's (including current major leaguers) was his brother Ted and it was very close between them.
I last saw Jimmy at NYU Baseball reunion a few years ago and he looked like his old self and kept us in laughter the entire day. It was a shock to learn of his passing.
My condolences to Jody and their children. I trust that Jimmy is keeping everyone upstairs in good humor.

I want to say how sorry I am to hear of Jim's passing. I've known Jim's since the late sixties but haven't seen him or Joade since we both finished our basball careers. He was my roomie and a very good friend. I'm just sorry for finding out at the late date about his passing. Rest in peace friend.

I just recently learned of Jimmy's passing and wanted to add a few words from his hometown, Mount Vernon, NY. I and my peers in the Class of 1961 were a year younger than Jimmy's brother Teddy, and four years older than Jimmy. But everyone in our town knew and had great admiration for the entire Cardasis Family, beginning with their parents, from whom we bought plants and flowers for our mothers and fathers on special family days, and continuing through the childhood and young adult years of Teddy and Jimmy. Teddy and Jimmy were two of the finest, most gifted, most accomplished athletes Mount Vernon ever produced--and two of the most admired. They carried themselves with a grace, a dignity, a humility that was very rare then, and far rarer today. They had the quiet self-confidence that comes from strong, loving parents who encouraged them to be their best. After learning of Jimmy's passing, I read an article about Jimmy in the Stowe, Vermont local newspaper. It chronicled how Jimmy, already in his 50s, moved to Stowe, became a history and physical education teacher, how he taught both the life of the mind and the body, of the wisdom he had acquired early in his life that helped him inspire students. I know I speak for my Class of 1961 peers when I say how proud I was to read of Jimmy's years as a teacher, and how much we would have enjoyed having a teacher just like Jimmy.
With kindest regards,
Michael A. Schlanger

To whomever is reading this. Just found out of Jimmy's passing. Jimmy Cardasis was a bright, athletically gifted and highly irreverant classmate/teammate of mine. We were both left handed pitchers but over time Jimmy's talents grew while mine went down in flames from too many curve balls. I send my belated condolences to his family. With love and respect, Jim Alba

Jim would often stop in resource room of SMS just to chat with staff and get a few smiles from the students.
