On April 8, 2014 with peace and grace, James K. passed away at the age of 88 years at the Brockville General Hospital with family by his side. Born in Winchester, ON to Kenneth and Annie (McVey) Carlyle; loved and treasured by his wife of 62 years Muriel (Armstrong); son Malcolm (Lisa); daughter Marianne and grandchildren Lily, Jaegar, Erik, Sara and Cameron. Dear brother of George (Elaine) of Kingston, dear sister-in-laws; Doris (Cliff Cotton) of Belleville and Norma (Edwin Duncan) of Winchester. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. James remained active and cherished by his friends and fellow Rotarians, Masonic Lodge, various athletic organizations and after retiring as a partner from Geo. A. Welch and Co; James was a recipient of The Paul Harris Fellowship Award, as well as Past Master of The Sussex Masonic Lodge, No. 5 where he was member for over 50 years. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville on Thursday, April 24 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Friday, April 25 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. when a ceremony celebrating James' life will be held in the Chapel. Officers and members of Sussex Masonic Lodge No. 5 will gather for a memorial service on Friday, April 25 at 12:45 p.m. James supported and would ask for memorials to be directed to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Kidney Foundation,The Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society or the charity of your choice.
