JAMES M. CARMODY, SR. MANCHESTER – James M. Carmody, Sr., 71, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at Elliot Hospital, in Manchester. He was born on January 28, 1937, in Manchester, NH, the son of the late Leo P. and Virginia (Elkins) Carmody. Mr. Carmody was a lifelong resident of the Manchester. He was employed for 26 years as a truck driver for True Value Hardware, and was a member of the Teamsters Local 633. Mr. Carmody was a veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Merchant Seaman and deep sea diver. Mr. Carmody loved the ocean. Family members include his 3 sons, James M. Carmody, Jr., of Hooksett; John Carmody, of NH; Charles Carmody, of Manchester; 1 daughter, Shannon Dionne, of Manchester, NH; 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Michael Carmody, of California; 2 sisters, Trisha Carmody and Katherine Carmody, both of California; several nieces and nephews. Mr. Carmody was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Claire F. (Duquette) Carmody. A memorial gathering will be Saturday, August 16, from 3:00 – 4:00 PM at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 243 Hanover Street, corner of Union Street, in Manchester. A memorial service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 4:00 P.M. It has been suggested that those who wish may make memorial gifts to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101 or to The Paralyzed Veterans of America, 7 Mill Brook Road, Wilton, NH 03086 or to High Hopes Foundation of NH, 416 Daniel Webster Highway, Ste H, Merrimack, NH 03054, or Make a Wish Foundation, 66 Hanover Street, Ste 103, Manchester, NH 03101, in memory of Mr. Carmody.

What a truley wonderful "family man". I will miss you so very much. I loved to hear your laugh and to see your eyes light right up when you smile. Forever engraved in my heart. A man is not dead until he is forgotten, you will never be forgotten. Thank you for sharing,the quickest, 20 years of my life with me. You have been the greatest father-in-law anyone could ever hope for. I love you loads!
